“Sugar baby” Dark Foal Laying down, Watercolor by Debbie Flood
Sugar baby is a 15 x 22 inches, watercolor, $1,400.00
Isn’t he the cutest little bundle of joy you’ve ever seen?
I’m playing and toying with the idea of No Backgrounds! Leaving the crisp clean natural white of the paper. I love the look of bright light, that it gives.
With this look, your eyes stay on the foal, and you are able to study his details and colors. For a little something to anchor him to the ground, I’ve included hints of grass sprigs, pebbles and a little cactus plant.
This has been a very popular painting, so I will be having Limited Edition Prints made of him. I’m now accepting pre-orders for a print run of 50. Hand signed and numbered. These prints will be the same size as the original at 15 x 22 inches, with a 1 inch white border on velvet watercolor paper. $100.00 plus shipping. Contact Debbie Flood at debflood@debfloodart.com thank you.

Several Equine-Western Watercolors Finished, by Debbie Flood
Easy rider, 29 x 22 inches on 300lb Arches Paper, $2,500.00
Yes, I’ve been painting, painting, painting, still! I’m working on getting a hefty amount of large works done for 2013’s Solo Museum Exhibit, in El Paso, Texas. I think I will be able to do it!
Above is the finished Watercolor of Easy rider. I really like how this painting stayed on the loose side of painting, yet the rider is more detailed. And the colors blend and mix and sit side by side, so well. I’m pretty proud of this work.
Trail gone stone cold 15 x 18 Watercolor $1,400.00
This painting, above, shows the outcropping of rocks and boulders that I photographed in Prescott, Arizona in 2011. I loved these rocks! The horse and rider, I photographed here in Maine, several years ago. I changed the dark horse to a Paint. I also researched rifles and saddle bags, and added those two elements to the horse and rider. I really enjoyed creating this work of art.
Learnin’ the ropes 16 x 12 Inches, Watercolor on 300lb Arches Paper. $1,200.00
I’ve finally declared Learnin’ the ropes, finished! This painting I created from my horse back ride experience in Sedona, Arizona in 2011. After the ride, we had an awesome Cowboy breakfast, and then learned how to catch a bale of hay with the ropes that are used for real roping. I was amazed at how heavy and stiff those ropes are. My Cowgirl hat is off to all the Cowboys and Cowgirls who can actually use these ropes on horse back, going after the cattle! Wow!
I especially enjoyed painting the landscape behind the cowgirl in the painting above. I loved the land out there in the wild west.
Thank you for stopping by and taking a peak at my new works. I’ll be posting a separate blog entry, of the works I still have in progress, soon.
Have a great week!
